American Idol has given us several great artists over the years, such as Kelly Clarkson, Carie Underwood, Jordan Sparks and most recently David Cook. Even many of those who didn't win but made it to the top 10 have found fame. But what about the people who never make it past the auditions? Does anyone remember them? Well, one young man was able to turn a pathetic audition into a brief mark in music history. I'm sure you know I am talking about William Hung. He primarily recorded covers and believe it or not, he actually has four albums credited to him (but who can take an album titled Hung for the Holidays seriously? My choice for this competition is the song that started Hungmainia, She Bangs.

Anyone who followed the original Star Trek, even if only peripherally, knew that Leonard Nimoy branched out into a music career. This is pure speculation but I would imagine that few, if any, groups have had more of their songs remade than the Beatles. This week two of those remakes will be put to the vote.

Sir George Martin - sometimes referred to as the "Fifth Beatle" - produced or co-produced all of the Beatles original albums. In 1998 he produced the album In My Life which was meant to be his farewell album. (As it turns out Martin did produce a few albums following this project.) In My Life featured renditions of favorite Beatles songs performed by contemporary artists such as Bobby McFerrin, Celine Dion, Goldie Hawn and Phil Collins. The particular track that made it's way into my little contest is "I am the Walrus" as sung by Jim Carrey. Carrey says it best at the end of this song. "I defiled a timeless work of art!"

Over the next four weeks I will pair the eight songs together based on some common theme, post a link to the song and everyone will vote for the worst.
