From what I've read, a former nanny took a picture of the 7 year old daughter as part of a "game" and her boyfriend stole the picture and asked
for ransom

What I can't figure out is... why has the former nanny not been charged with a crime?

Or, is it NOT a crime to tie up and gag a 7 year old and take a picture?

I think this whole story just goes to show that if you let people into your house, you had damn well better be able to trust them and tell them not to invite
their friends over.

Not sure what the nanny's involvement is on this, but I suspect she was probably smoothe talked by this guy and hoped to make some extra cash. So this is
another lesson celebs and rich folk need to learn. Treat your staff well, and make sure they are paid accordingly and do not treat them live slaves. They
will be less likely to fall for this con, or less likely to sell stories to gossip mags because ...hey...they actually like their employers.

I agree with you Tev that I don't think Crawford and hubby condoned this type of game in any way and hope that my post didn't imply that. Thank you for
bringing it to my attention that it may have. My comment about if I am that mother that won't let my kid play, it was in response to CP describing it as a
fun game of cops and robbers.

I honestly believe Crawford/Gerber didn't know about it, at first I was disheartened that rich celebrities could let these types of (friends of) staff be
near their child(ren). While I assume there was a back ground check on the nanny at hiring (which admittedly may have shown nothing) but wonder if even a
security follow up as to who the nanny is exposing their child to was done as they certainly have the resources.

I'll agree that hind sight is 20/20 and who knows what I would have done in the same situation. This is a horrible example of the type of incident that
when I needed to go back to work I didn't...

Not explicitly stated, but implied from above comments. There was a suggestion above that Cindy supported the nanny playing these types of games with their
children, as well as Neko's comment about not letting her own children play these types of games implies that she believes Cindy had approved of the game.
If this interpretation is wrong, I apologize.

Also, maybe I painted with a broad brush when I said "everyone". Sorry, TJ. It was meant as a figure of speech.

Why is everyone here assuming it was truly a game of cops and robbers and that Cindy knew about it and was okay with it? The People article reads
pretty clear to me.

The extortionist was an acquaintance of the nanny. It was the 7-year-old daughter who said it was a cops and robbers game, not the parents. The
Gerber/Crawfords said the picture was taken without their consent, suggesting that there is a possibility that they didn't even know the game was being
played, or at least the manner in which it was being played.

This is what it sounds like to me. The extortionist hatched up a plot with the nanny. The nanny convinced the daughter to play a game of "cops and
robbers", where she dressed her and tied her up, posing her for the incriminating photograph. The first story simply said the extortion was over the
bound and gagged photo. Possibly the original intent was to claim that the parents bound the child, until the child spilled the...

Assuming the innocent blah blah, I am going with assuming there is a photo of this child at stake out there, so I will say "Sorry CP, I find it odd if not
a test for others that you believe it is ok for this type of child care people to defend themselves because they are "close" to a child and
"playing an unassumingly innocent game."

It definitely doesn't sound like a fun game of cops and robbers when it's described and even reported in media as "The photo shows the
child 'in revealing clothing, bound to a chair and gagged,' " Sounds like scum bag opportunist nannies and tsk tsk sadness even
disappointment to these celeb parents even consider when hiring staff to take care of their children!!! First look should be at themselves as parents and why
they say they had no clue? All mothers reluctantly hire others at times to watch their kids, but when you have the benefit of wealth, you'd like to...
