By far my least favorite of the movies, which is a real shame, because the book was awesome!

Well, I have to say, after all the hype and extra waiting because of the writers strike last year, I was pretty disappointed with Harry Potter and the Half
Blood Prince. I think it strays from the book more than any of the other movies and it doesn't explain nearly what it needed to for people to understand.
If they're going to choose a particular concept, they should take the time to fully explain it. I think it would have made a heck of a lot more sense to
split this book into 2 movies like they are doing with the last book. That way, concepts could have been fully explored and explained.
By far my least favorite of the movies, which is a real shame, because the book was awesome!

I watched Gran Torino last night, I loved the movie, it had me laughing so many times. It showed a pretty true account of how many a man who served during the
war and how they feel toward minorities as they grow older. The Hmong family that lives next to him were pretty funny, especially the daughter.
There wasn't as much excitement in the movie as I would have liked to see, but still a great movie, one I'll watch again. |

Just watched "Salvage". Its a low budget horror/suspense movie...bought the blu-ray version for $6 and its not bad. Was kind of cheesy throughout the
film, but the ending kind of explained it all. And the main character played by Lauren Currie Lewis looks a bit like Alicia Silverstone.

Planning to watch Legally Blondes when it airs on ABC Family...I loved the other two movies in the franchise (Legally Blonde and its sequel), so I'm just
going to make it a marathon day and watch all 3! They're showing the first two before airing the third.

Just watched "Tell No One". Its actually a French film titled "Ne le dis à personne" with English subtitles. Story is about the wife of a
doctor was murdered 8 years ago, but today he receives an email from her. Was pretty good in terms of suspense...won't make you bite your nails off but it
did catch my interest throughout the entire film.

I saw Confessions of a Shopaholic the other night. It was hysterical. I read the book and while the movie was slightly different, it was still good, IMO.

Shooter with Mark Wahlberg (sp) was pretty good for the genre of the "good guy set up and done wrong"

Mist....after a nasty storm a mist rolls into a quiet town and the townspeople are being killed. Story focuses on a group of townspeople caught in the mist
that have barricaded themselves inside the supermarket. Based on a story written by Stephen King. Wasn't spectacular, wasn't terrible...but its one I
would watch again.

I thought The Mist was excellent, especially having read the King novella. As you mentioned, JG, it was based on King's work, but the movie's director
wrote the screenplay and, among other things, changed the ending. The new ending was much better that than the original, and, if you watch the special
features on the DVD, you will see Stephen King admitting that he wishes he had thought of the ending that was portrayed in the movie. Very reminiscent of
horror movies in the 70's.

G.I. Joe - Not a bad movie but not one of favorites for action. Personally Transformers was better for action and smartly placed humor. I felt the humor in GI
Joe was just not funny. The actions scenes were good though, overall I enjoyed the movie - But GI Joe II I'm sure is in the works....
Husband and I saw this movie at the drive inn again. Nothing like sitting under the stars and have the HUGE moon rise just after dark - perfect evening again - We have been very lucky with the weather - good breeze, no bugs even in Houston which has been under a heat advisement for the last several days. |

I took my brother to see GI Joe on Friday and agree with Ocean923. I didn't see Transformers but I did feel like the humor in GI Joe was not that funny. The action scenes were great and I liked the lead guy (forget his name). Marlon Wayans was pretty good, too. Sienna Miller was blah....the black wig and outrageous outfits had me laughing. That and the villians were a bit cornball but this is a Hasbro movie so I can forgive that. There will definitely be a sequel. I look forward to it. |

6th Day with Arnold S is fairly typical of his action movies... fair plot and acting, good action scenes (aside from the fact that none of the villians can
shoot straight)... I'd give it a B+
Doomsday with a cast I've already forgetten... this is a C- take on the "killer virus" movie... no zombies, just get the bug and die, and what the people in charge will do to stay healthy and stay in charge... many of the scenes in the "abandoned land" could have been taken directly out of Mad Max |

I saw an online clip last night for "The Lovely Bones" which is to be released December 11th. I haven't read the book, but maybe I'll do
that before the movie comes out. Then again, people are so often disappointed with a movie after reading the book first that maybe I should just skip the
book.

Max Payne with Mark Wahlberg... movie was a bit confusing so you had to really pay attention... OK take on the cop searching for loved one's killers, with
drugged up killers and a hint of the supernatural
I'd give the movie a B- but Mark W gets an A... I'm really starting to like him as an actor (I don't do rap, so never saw/heard him in his Marky Mark music days) |

I tried watching this movie last night, just couldn't keep myself interested in it, as you said you needed to pay close attention and lately my attention
span hasn't been too good.
I'll have to see if it is ON DEMAND so I can watch for awhile and than stop and go back and watch more of it. |

Watched Babylon AD yesterday, with Vin Diesel as a mercernary delivering a young woman from war-torn Europe to the USA, for a religious sect that wasn't
really very religious at all (the one in charge was a woman this time, but your usual "crazy powerful" type)
This was strictly B movie fare... OK acting but a script that felt like it was "let's make sure we get every action cliche entered" from start to finish Without giving away the ending... it was a bit of an anti-climax |

Did you ever know walking in the movie was going to be a disaster but you felt you had to see it anyway? (that would be a great discussion topic..but.. I
digress)
For those who know me here, Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis is a favorite movie of mine as well as my good friend. We HAD to see Rob Zombie's version of Halloween just to see what he would do with it, and while it wasn't awful, I was ok/good with it. When this "Rob Zombie's Halloween II" came out this weekend, it felt more like a personal responsibility to the series in going to see it than desire, but we went. I don't go to movies at the cinema much, especially scary ones so I seldom think "I wasted my money on this POS" but that thought crossed my mind. Apparently I was not alone as of an audience of less than 10, one couple did have the nerve to walk out even though it was almost over.... Haaaa Not a gory horror fan, and I heard Saw and Hostel series are gross as well as knowing going in THIS movie would be gory, but if you took that out, the story was stupid.....

Just watched Wolverine. Bought the Blu-Ray version in Hong Kong this past weekend, and I noticed its not scheduled to be released until Sept 16th in the US.
Now I'm wondering if I bought a fake....but it has all the FBI warnings on it which is unlike the fake ones.
Anyways...good movie, nice story, good mutant action. Only thing that bugged me was the cheesy blu-screen special effect. Just saying I hate it when I can tell that they're using the blu-screen background for some action shots. But I do like the tie-ins to other mutants...specially Gambit (though the accent is less pronounced with this version of Gambit). Also, interesting snippit at the end of the credits. |
