Did anyone see this last night? I don't care what your opinion is of other peoples musical talents, but it is the height of rudeness to not only steal a
winner's spotlight, but to insult them in such a way on national television. I have no idea who this girl is, but I felt just awful for her standing there
not knowing what to do. Kanye might as well have dumped a bucket of pigs blood on her and started yelling "They're all laughing at you Carrie"

I swear I checked first haaa and my "moderator" skills are rusty as I was not able to combine our two posts, so I copied my other one over.
I am so disgusted at Kanye's behavior. But alas it is his not his first. I hope it is not excused in the music industry There were it seemed a million stories about this jackass moment of Kanye West and his taking Taylor's deserved moment away. I posted this article as it was my favorite...I totally respect her Mom's reaction and wish I knew what she said as that was my first thought was her mother must have been crazy with anger. IF that was my daughter I would have wanted to knock him out. A little too late, an apology on his blog,.. he's a media hog as we've seen before, but this was unnecessary and even cruel to any artist. Poor Beyonce was mortified in the audience and always appears to be a real class act. Unfortunately, Kanye has his supporters.....he doesn't care that I am not one of them. Link to Article http://www.people.com/people/package/article/0,,20302940_20304464,00.html PEOPLE Article: Kanye's Backstage Clash with Taylor Swift's Mom Minutes after Kanye West stormed the stage as she accepted her Video Music Award, a teary-eyed Taylor Swift pulled herself together to perform her award-winning song, "You Belong With Me," atop a cab parked in front of Radio City Music Hall. But West only continued the drama by angering the entire Swift family. After Swift's mother, Andrea, asked to speak to the rapper and, a source tells PEOPLE, "tore into him," the rapper continued to maintain that Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" should have won Best Female Video instead and made no formal apology. Later on his Web site, West confirmed that Swift's mother "said the same thing my mother would have said," but didn't offer a full apology until Monday afternoon, when he said, "That was Taylor's moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her. I am truly sorry." Among those who did offer support backstage was Beyoncé's dad, Matthew, who comforted Taylor and her family, and arranged the moment in which Beyoncé gave Swift a second chance at the spotlight. A spokeswoman for Taylor says she's been overwhelmed by her fellow musicians' "kindness, support and generosity." ------------------- |

Maybe took him a day to sober up. Saw a picture he took with some lady on the red carpet and he had this big bottle of liquor...possible Hennessey.
Yeah, Kanye is a tool, but I do like his one song "Golddigger". |

Yeah, but this rear end named Kanye has been quick to act first, ask forgiveness later. He's all show and spotlight and knows that his antics put his name and face in front of the public (any publicity is good publicity). He gives a half-hearted apology so he can "look good" to those who may have been offended, but does anyone at this point really believe him? Instead of using your blog and the talk show circuit to apologize for your asinine commnets, Kanye, why don't you keep your mouth shut in the first place and later use the blog and talk shows to voice your differing opinion in an appropriate manner? That would be more professional. "A male is a male. A man is a male that is malier." - My Son, Age 13 |

I am no fan of President Obama, but I do have to give him credit when he says something that's on target. "A male is a male. A man is a male that is malier." - My Son, Age 13 |

I sometimes read this blog by a Hollywood insider/lawyer type. He is of the opinion this whole thing was staged between Kanye and Beyonce's people (her
daddy). He says at awards shows like this, everyone knows who the winners will be beforehand, so for Kanye to be offended about Beyonce's not winning one
award is ridiculous. Especially when she was going to get another one later on that evening. After "the incident" Papa Knowles went backstage to
Taylor's people and said that "WHEN" Beyonce got her award, she would invite Taylor up "to have her moment", which is exactly what
happened.
So he thinks the whole thing was stage managed, since all parties got something out of it (though he does think Taylor was unaware of what was going on). People still think Kanye is an asshole, but they always thought that and he gets more press. People feel bad for Taylor, and that is gonna sell a few more albums. But the big winner of the night was Beyonce and her Mother Teresa act. With one seeming spontaneous act, she has undone some of the bad publicity she has gotten over the years. |

That is disappointing but I wouldn't be surprised Bas.. for a guy that was allegedly caught drinking on the Red Carpet beforehand and may have contributed,
Kanye was pretty well spoken, no slurring, stammering when he was being a "hole" to Taylor. Even more bugging to me was how it was convenient that
he was promoting something the next night on Jay Leno's first episode NEW show. I heard he was always set to only perform, but asked for a moment to speak
with Jay (ON THE FREAKING PREMIERE EPISODE during prime time hours) to apologize... He realizes he was wrong.. "Barf"
I can't imagine they were out to hurt Taylor..and I would rather think she was not included. I am gullible enough and would be disappointed to think if I fell for her even being part of it. Not a Kanye fan before either way....and admittedly I had liked the "Gold Digger" and "Heartless' but... hardly makes Kanye worth any more of my time except I love you Bas and this site so we can always chat.

Kanye is beyond the scum of the Earth! Planned or not, he should be banned from every awards show. PERIOD! His music is not welcome in my home or car. I'd
never pay a plug nickel, even if my kids begged on their knees for anything that is a product of his.

Binky I'm thinking you meant scum of the earth above. LOL
I've never cared for the guy or his singing so no big lose for me, I was laughing when I watched the video of Obama calling him a jack ass, but it is a little insulting to the mule to be compared to Kanye. |

Bas, I'm surprised you guys in Canada don't know Taylor Swift. Taylor is the probably the biggest country pop artist in the States for almost 2 years
now. She *deserves* every award that is given to her because country music isn't being played much in pop radio and she's one of the only few country
artists that is receiving a lot of airplay. It's very hard to break into the top 10 pop chart in the U.S. if an artist is doing country music these days
and Taylor has proven that she could get young and old people to listen to her music because she makes good, melodic, accessible music.
The best thing that'll come out of this is that she'll be an even bigger star after this whole mess!

Shasta, my guess is that it has more to do with the color of skin. Reporters are asking these questions of Obama because he is black, and the individual
involved in being a jackass is black, plain and simple. They'd never have dared ask a white president about the behavior of a black celebrity...sorry, but
that's how I see it

Well... Ok and Maybe... but were White Presidents asked about the foibles of White celebs? |

Don't think Obama would have been asked about this had he not weighed in on the Cambridge incident, criticizing the police for how they handled that
situation.

Re: Obama, maybe everyone is reading too much into it. At the time it was asked, everyone was talking about the incident. It was in the papers, on
TV and all over the internet. Everyone was giving their opinion on it, so I think it was a fair question to ask the Pres, even off topic.. I doubt there was
anything racial about it at all.

DJNT wrote: No DJ I have never heard one chord of her music. But I do know my kids
seem to like her. Sadly, most of them are young, so I am more up to date on Camp Rock, Miley Cyprus and High School Musical, much to my eternal shame. My 5
year old niece made a poster thingie of Hannah Montanna, that of course I had to put up on my fridge. One might ask why she would even think I like that show?
Well, I happened to be there once when she was watching an episode, and I got all excited because Heather Locklear was doing a cameo. Ever since then
Victoria thinks I am a fan of the show. *sigh* But I do love the picture she made!

Shasta7 wrote:I think Obama made the comment because he is human first, President second. Much, if not most, of what he does or says on a daily basis probably has nothing to do with Presidential situations. I work for Civil Engineering firm, yet even at work I talk about and do a lot of things that are not Enigeering related (my kids, television shows, jokes, handle personal situations when necessary, etc.) On the video, Obama and the interviewer are still getting their make-up on and the various equipment is still being checked. It very much seems like Obama and the people around him were just having some chit-chat before the interview started (very much a 'water cooler' moment). There is nothing in the raw audio/video that leads me to believe he was being asked because he was the President or because he was black. (One person is heard to jokingly ask, "Is this the first question?" to which everyone laughed.) I think he was asked as a person interested in current pop culture, the same as I would ask a co-worker, "What did you think of Survivor last night?" "A male is a male. A man is a male that is malier." - My Son, Age 13 |

doing the Hannah Montana guest spot.
