And isnt he a lightning rod for kooks? There was the kidnap plot on his son, and didnt some woman stalk him for years and then kill herself over him???

David Letterman's Confession |

Wow I was surprised to hear about this. I didnt think he was such a horn dog ---and a lazy one at that, to troll the women who work on his show. Plus how would
you react as a woman who works for him if you didnt find him attractive or want to hook up? I'd be worrying about my job.

Well, until we hear the women's side of things, we really don't know if he used any unethical tactics to get the ladies into bed with him. And since
there had been nary a whisper about any shennigans on Letterman's part over the years, I am willing to bet the relationships were consensual and
satisfying for both parties, because you know if they weren't, one of them at least would have screamed "sexual harrassment". And from what I
have read, one of the ladies in question still works for him.
Personally, I don't see that he did anything wrong. He wouldn't be the first person to use the workplace as a dating pool. Bosses date their employees all the time with no threat of coercion. Dave's not a bad looking guy, and he has alot of money, so I am sure he has been come on to by more than one woman in his lifetime. If he did anything wrong, it was cheating on his then-girlfriend, but since no ring was on her finger, we don't know the circumstances and perhaps each were allowed to have "friends with benefits". And from what we know, once he got married any outside relationships stopped. I think he did the right thing in going to the police and going public about this douche who was blackmailing him. It's not like he was doing it with children. It was with other consenting adults and did not break any laws. He will come through this fine. |

Yes, he did an excellent job of handling the extortion and the breakingof the story to the public. I'm sure it wont affect his career or reputation.

I think this sort of thing shows that while Dave can dish it out, he can take it too.
But I have to laugh at bloggers and gossip columnists who on the one hand say he is handling this well, but on the other saying he should NEVER have done what he did. He got a little on the side. Big deal. It is not as if he is a politician voting against gay marriage, while at the same time cheating on his wife. He is a comedian so I don't think he is being a hypocrite. Sure he has made jokes out of other peoples scandals in the past, but that is what he is supposed to do. It is his job. There are many many celebrities who have done alot worse. |

I agree and cant help but think that others inhis position would have just paid the blackmail and we would never have heard whisper about it.

While I love the way he said "F You" to the extortionist and owned up, he's been with his now wife, mother of his child "forever"
curious to what she thinks.
but whether she knew about it, which I am guessing she did, and even forgives him "or not" I'm sorry, I think marriage is going to go kaput if celebs like this and Jolie/Pitt, Madden/Richie continue to glofify making a mockery of it... Off my soap box. I really do respect Letterman's fessing up, but still a little disappointed... |

To be fair, all these alleged affairs came before he married his then-girlfriend as far as we know. So I will cut him some slack for playing the field before
there was a ring on her finger.

I believe he's been with this wife forever before they got married so I would be she was at least his serious girlfriend as the woman in the center
(girlfriend to the extortionist) is only 34, but I'm guessing she knew about it.

On the way home today I heard that DL has had sex with SIX of his staffers... that is not a work place romance, that is hunting in the captive reserve

Sounds like in any other business, they say Letterman would be in big sh*t for harassment, but I'd put my money on it's another case of huge money and
power talks, and the ratings surge will far outweigh anything he has to pay, including a divorce settlement (which I doubt there would be as she had to know he
was a dog.. can't hide that for what I hear was 23 years of dating.) How many of these types ever really get in trouble.

Craig Ferguson talked about this on his show last night, and I thought he was pretty truthful. He admitted that Dave is his boss (Letterman's production
company produces Craigs show) but his job is also to poke fun at news stories people are talking about.
Anyway, he came to Dave defense asking when did late night comedians have to have the same morality and ethics one would expect out of politicians or clergy. And he has a point. Letterman isn't in a position of moral authority over anyone, so big deal. BTW, his wife ain't gonna leave him. All these things allegedly happened before he legally married her, so I am guessing she knew about them and made him stop. |

I think unless we all know David Letterman personally and have 1st hand knowledge of his life and what goes on, who's to say when he cheated..before he
married? After? He cheated.. everything else concerning his wife is his business.. Me? I'm glad he didn't give in and pay the extortion money..I'm
pretty sure he was smart enough to know there would be consequences and chose not to do what I'm sure most people in his postion would have done..

From what I understand this affair was still going on within the last year, but whether they were legally married or not, they had a kid and were
"together" for decades. I agree though, that his marriage is none of our business, that is his and Regina's. He should give her the respect of
not talking about it anymore (I'm ok with the original public apology) on his show...and NO WAY should she appear on the show. I still am curious as to
whether he is guilty of "harassment" though as these are his employees, and "rumors" are circulating that it was an unhealthy atmosphere at
"World Wide Pants.." At least we know where he got the name of his company...
It's just amazing what money and/or power can do to make someone attractive to some....any other world what would be attractive about David Letterman? |
