So was Shambo an idiot or a brilliant strategist? She gave the Foa folks all the clues to the HII and Liz figured out Russhole had it. Russ immediately
threatened her and I thought she was gone. Once again the Foa tribe voted out the lady with the best chest. Sad for the dirty old men still watching. Sure
Ashley couldn't eat the gut shake, but if they had gotten the meat, they didn't have a dry spot to make a fire so they might not have been able to eat
it.
Shambo did deserve the scorn of Good Russell for losing the chicken and the snorkel piece although she has a big mouth telling her Galu tribe she fit in better at Foa which has alienated her from Galu. If they lose another IC, she will be gone. |

Ashley had only a little slug left and gave up. Boo! And then she bombed the immunity challenge. Double boo! I'm glad she's gone.
Russhole is funny -- he thinks he's running Foa Foa but he isn't. He didn't want Ben to go last week and he didn't want Ashley to go this week. Hmmm. Methinks Mick, Jaison and Liz are really the ones calling the shots. The Other Russell is quickly getting under my skin. The "chief" title has gone to his head. Who does he think he is talking to everyone like he's the boss? Can't wait for him to get gone. And Shambo...a Survivor first, saying No I don't wanna go to the other tribe. Excuse me? She has no future in this game, like we didn't already know. I'm kinda hoping there's no tribal mixup or early merge. I'd love to see Foa Foa get knocked down to one player like that season with Stephenie. |

Shambo's interaction with the other tribe is the best thing for her. Of course we don't know if or how tribes might be mixed up before the merge, but
once the merge comes I think she's safe for a while (assuming she is still in the game). On the one hand, if Galu is still strong at the merge, the first
couple of votes tend to go along tribal lines. It would be a high probablity that Galu would target member of Foa before turning on their own. On the other
hand, if somehow the sides are more even, or power has somehow switched, come the merge, Shambo may be able to jump sides with little problem because she has a
relationship with Foa already. I think there is a possibility she may be a dark horse of this season.
I second BigToe's sentiments concerning Ashley and that last gulp of slug. You got that far. You should be able to get the last bit. Another thing to consider, however, is that she wasn't actually the last person for Foa to participate in the challenge. The order could have been switched in editing to 1) make it more dramatic and 2) focus on Ashley since her "eating" ability was questioned earlier on in the show. If her turn was actually earlier, maybe she didn't know her failure would lose it for the team, hoping that someone on Galu would fail in a later round. Just a thought. "A male is a male. Good point on the editing.
Also, according to a story on RealityBlurred.com, there is a possibility that Ashely wasn't the only one who failed. http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/survivor_samoa/2009_Oct_16_ashley_interview |

I hope this doesn't show up twice...something glitched the first time.
I think Shambo has a false sense of her importance and connection to Foa Foa. Sure, they have been friendly to her, and she feels like she has bonded with them, but why wouldn't they let her feel that way? They have no connection to her at all, other than that she hates her tribe as much as they do. I have no doubt they would not hesitate to vote her off...but why let her know that? Shambo is clueless...and the fact that she shared the HII clues with all the others just proves it. |

5 Hole wrote:_______ Shambo at Foa is a 2 edged sword. She has let Foa know she doesn't fit in at Galu and was able to dish some dirt about what happens at Galu. The purpose of her visit was to gather info on Foa and report back to Galu but we haven't seen any reports so from what we've seen Foa is getting info about Galu. AFA the HII clues she gave. If she is really a Galu spy and wanted to spread doubt at Foa, she did it perfectly. With the 3rd clue she knew exactly where the HII was hidden and looked for it but it was gone. By revealing where it was to all of Foa, she outed the fact that someone at Foa has it. This worked to cause Liz to confront Russhole. The already tenuous relationships at Foa are further fractured which should guarantee that they decimate themselves at future TC's. IIRC, Russ told Jaison he found the HII but I don't remember who else he told. From the previews, next week will be another double elim when another medical emergency removes another player. In a morbid way I'd bet it will be Foa and they lose Natalie to medical and Liz is voted out to leave the 3 men. If Foa is reduced to 3 and Galu has 9, they will have to sit out 6 and play 3 on 3. Obviously with the "can't sit out 2 times" rule, there is no way not to sit out 3 people since they are sitting out 6 of 9. So I guess I've talked myself into Galu losing a member to medical and losing the IC to send Shambo home to even the tribes a little 7-5. They might have a tribe shuffle to even things out. |

Ok.. is it just me or is this season actually a tad on the boring side? I can't put my finger on the reason as to why it is for me but it is...with
the exception of the challenge where somebody was actually thwon out, there's been little to go "HOLY SMOKE!!!" about so far...even skanky old
Russell is actually pretty blah...I'll keep watching and hoping for an improvement...

Dayvee wrote:Yeah. If you followed any of Reality Steve's blogs about the past two seasons of Bachelor/Bachelorette, then you should have a pretty good idea about how these shows are "scripted" after the fact. Basically, they get a bunch of raw footage, then figure out what kind of story they want to tell and how the footage can be edited to tell that story. I'm not going to say how much one show does it compared to another, but I'm sure it happens to an extent in all of them. "A male is a male. A man is a male that is malier." - My Son, Age 13 |

I still don't know much about the Galu people since Foa gets more TV time. Russell S and Shambo get most face time at Galu. I guess we did get some fire
building conflict between Russell and Dave (can't remember names yet on Galu, so when will we get pictures at the top of this page)

Scoobie wrote:I just read an article on MSNBC suggesting that this is the worst season of Survivor ever - especially in regards to trying to edit Russhole as the evil genius that he isn't. My favorite paragraph from the article is probably this - referring to how Russhole didn't get his way and Ben got voted out. "Remarkably - and indicative of how hard the show is working to push the "Russell is a genius" story, no matter how unconnected it is from reality - host Jeff Probst then wrote a blog post in which he talked about how Russell's abject failure to achieve his objective actually indicated that his game was subtle and sophisticated, because he sensed where the group was going and voted with them. If everyone who has ever gone along with the crowd after being outvoted is to be considered a sophisticated genius, then the show has had many more geniuses than anyone suspected."

Scoobie wrote:I know the feeling, but I'd love to go back through each season's posts to see how often this was said. I think just about every season, at this point, is "boring", "no connection with the players", etc. it always seems to take until the merge for real viewer-survivor contestant "connections" to form. BTW, I don't think anyseason could beat "Thailand" for worst ever...at least in terms of cast. |

I don't think this season it "that" bad. The problem is that every episode, the losing team gets the most airtime, so we are stuck Russhole
gloating, the others questioning his motives but doing nothing about it, and the occasional visit from a Galu tribemate to mix things up. Basically we have
the same small group of people every week, which can get a little boring.
I'd like to know a bit more about the dynamics over at Galu. Is Shambo really as on the outs as she thinks she is, or is it editing? I missed the episode where Yasmine got voted out, so I don't know how much danger Shambo was really in. But if we are to believe editing, she is the one who seems to do alot of the work over there, so the chances of her making a mistake (like losing a chicken) are higher for her than the other people who are doing yoga practice. And I don't blame her for being pissed when "good" Russell chose to send her to the losing tribe for another visit. She asked him not to as she had already missed out on one reward, but Russ got pissy over the chicken thing and made her miss out on another reward. If Shambo gets to the jury, and Russell is in the finals, I think he will have a hard time getting her vote. |

Basileos wrote:__________________ Maybe it was a false tease, but the previews running on CBS this week show Russell S being knocked out at a IC or RC and medical looking at him on the ground unconscious. JP said in the voice over it was the scariest thing he has ever seen on Survivor. So Russ may be a medical hardship this week. We need a couple more double elims to get the season in by week 13. |
