I think I remember this show from a few years back. If I remember correctly it was a sci-fi about aliens coming to earth? May be worth checking out again.

I do remember watching this when I was little, but not sure if I'll watch or not. It does have Juliette from Lost so that is a plus.

"Little"? Thanks for aging me Kal. Better get a Werther's candy, put on my sweater and get to bed with a nice cup of tea.

Well, not so little I guess. I see it was on in '84 - '85, so I was around 12.

If you are interested, ABC has pushed up the premiere date to November 3rd at 8pm. And they are heavily promoting it. Not only do they have
seemingly PDA's of Visitor Leader Anna telling viewers we are all at peace, ABC plans to launch a skyrighting campgaign in major cities around the States
in the week leading up to the premiere. Presumably the planes will skywrite a red V over the cities. How cool is that?

I am getting this mixed up with "Alien Nation" .. .can anyone give a quick summary? I hear a lot of places that this could be good.

The producer of the original V also produced Alien Nation. Maybe that is why people get confused.
In the original V, major cities of Earth had alien motherships hovering over them with the human seeming aliens proclaiming peace and prosperity for everyone. Turns out they were actually lizards wearing human skin, and wanted to steal our water and eat the people and use them as slaves. Originally, the whole thing was a metaphor for the Nazi take over of Germany but the studios thought that too dark and dreary, but snapped up the idea of it being aliens instead of humans. Not sure what take they are going to use for the new version. They don't seem to be hiding the fact that the Visitors are lizards, judging by the promos, so that shock factor is out. I think this time they are setting themselves up as gods. |

According to IMDB, "V" was a miniseries in 1983 ( I was 33 at the time btw) and came back in 1984 as "V- The Final Battle" as a 3 part
series and came back again in 1984-1985 as "V-The Series" with 19 episodes. My memorable moment included the head villainess alien Diana up in the
ship opening a cage of live rodents , unhinging her jaw, and eating the thing live.
Here is the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VObQfWMgmIM&NR=1 It was a story of seemingly benevolent aliens coming to help mankind , being discovered as bad guys, having a human resistance being created, discovering/inventing some red bullets that killed the aliens, and beating them in the end. |

Jane Badler, who played Diana in the original V, has had meetings with the producer of the new version, so I think it is a safe bet she will at the very least
do a cameo in the reboot. And she seems happy about it from what I have read.
As for the hamster eating scene, I have also read that they will be doing it again as an homage to the original. The new producers know V has a strong original fan base and they don't want to mess around too much with the canon. But I doubt there will be a Starchild. Probably hybrids of some kind, but not any with special powers.

Nobody talking about it yet? I watched it and may continue. Looks like the FBI gal will be the central character because her idiot son is thinking with the
little head (hard to blame him since the V's gals are pretty hot) instead of the big head. The early twist was that the FBI gal's partner is a V.
And does it seem odd to anyone else that the aliens are referred to as V's and not Visitors as they were back in the 80's? I'm thinking the old priest is a V. Also the logic flaw I see so far is, if the V's have been here for decades to infiltrate and are in the FBI, why didn't they get some high placed TV media people in place? Their technology is way ahead and they can manufacture the best human features as a glove over their lizard skin, so why not place V's in the major TV network anchor spots, law enforcement, Army, etc? |

I loved the show, and it certainly has a lot of promise. And I agree Skeptik, there are more "V"'s out there. I guess they are pulling a page
from Battlestar Galactica and hidden Cylons et al. Erica's partner, and Ryan are already revealed, but I am sure there are bound to be more. My only
question was how could they have embedded themselves so high up? I can't imagine some Visitor came to earth and knocked on FBI's door asking for a
job. Unless of course, they abducted the original and replaced him like in Body Snatchers. I also suspect that some of the Visitors are actually human, but
that is pure speculation on my part. Oh, and the guy in the wheelchair who was healed, Roy I think? I bet he is a Visitor.
As for the V's/Visitor tag, alot of purists who are fans of the original are up in arms about that name. In the original, V stood for Victory, not Visitors. Personally I don't care and I think it is just a reflection of today's society that shortens celebrity names for convience sake, like Jlo, Kfed etc. It's an annoying trend, but it is there, so that is probably what the producers are aiming for. I do have a quibble, which I hope will be answered in future episodes. Since we know the Visitors are really reptilian in disguise, how come they can drink coffee and champagne, and eat sandwiches? I want to see them eating hamsters and rats. . Also, those motherships are pretty cool, what with terraces and gardens.

Hmmm. Now more questions than answers. The Visitors referred to a "first resistance". What is that about?
