Russell going down was scarier than any medical emergency I've ever seen.

LOVE the John-Eric-Shambo convo about who's voting for whom. Hilarious!

Hey look, Jeff agrees -- that was the scariest medical emergency ever.

BTW, finally learned the names of two more folks from Galu -- John and Brett. And John is a rocket scientist? Who knew?
Also, the blond on Galu is beautiful. |

That was pretty scary with Russell. How weird was the tribal council? What was the purpose of that? It looked like it was just a chance to show the two tribes
what the other thought. Why would Galu think that Foa Foa should just roll over? The whole tribal council was strange.

Indeed it was. And what's with Eric and his hippy-dippy prayers? As if we needed another Aras.

All the time that they showed Galu in the first 15-20 minutes, where the heck was Shambo?

With this many people still in the game at day 15 (5+9), I figured when Jeff said both teams at TC, we would lose Russel S to medical (based on the promos all
week) and then vote one from each tribe. It looked like Monica was going from Galu and Liz was done at FF. It was the perfect opportunity to get rid of 3
people and there has to be some more doubles coming up. With Russ gone we are down to 13 people. We also have 24 days till the final/reunion show. We have
to get rid of 11 people in 21 days or less. Unless we have a TC every 2 days instead of 3 as normal, we must have a couple of doubles.
I did think the opening scene of Russ fishing was staged for the camera. He was standing on the beach with a hand line and no pole to toss the hook. He could not have been throwing it more than 20 or 30 feet and the water couldn't have been more than a few inches deep when the surf crashed in. No way he was catching a fish and this looked like the Russell S show from all the face time he got. |

Kind of surprised Russ went down like he did. I figured with all they rain they've had they wouldn't be dehidrated, unless they weren't smart
enough to drink the rain water.
It's been a rather boring season for me personally, no one to really like or dislike. |

I already erased the epi from my DVR but did anyone notice that as they came into tribal over to Jeff's right there seemed to be a table or something
covered then at the end as they were leaving there was no covered table? Or was I seeing things? Wonder if they fed them pizza anyway but did not show us.

Ocean923 wrote:If you read Jeff's blog he makes it very clear that they give the players nothing. Heck, during Russell's crisis the madical team gave him water from his own canteen. Apparently, last night was supposed to be a "win-or-lose-double elimination", thus the two tribes at tribal council, though I don't think thery would have been together at TC if they were going to be voting, but were put together to be brought up to speed with Chief Russell's condition. Very difficult season, it seems, so far. 22 hours in a tree trunk? THAT sounds like hell. |

I think they did a good editing job making it look like Russell was to blame for his own problem, emphasizing that everyone in his tribe thought he was trying
to prove something by working too hard. The did the same thing with Mike, showing how he was determined to make a good impression by stretching way beyond his
limits in the challenges. But I have to question them blaming it on the plyers when they create situations where people are encouraged to stretch themselves
beyond what is safe. This season they've had challenges that invite violence, so someone like Ben, who they knew was volatile, got our of control. It's
like they are pushing the envelope too much and trying to turn this into extreme sports. Maybe they need some creative people who can make each season more
interesting without taking it in this direction.

They've had plenty of demanding challenges in past seasons, and some players take things too far either physically or otherwise (think Susan vs. Richard
Hatch-in the-buff ). I really don't think this season is any different, other than the weather which has been extremely brutal this time round. In fact,
Galu could have been in better shape had they chosen the tarp over the blankets (which are pretty much useless at this point.). Yes, Russell's medical
-removal was bad, but I really don't see the challenges being any worse, really. BTW, haven't we seen this challenge, or one a lot like it, before?

Ocean, I looked at my recording and the only thing to Jeff's right was a firepit behind him. When they left, the firepit was still to his right but
appeared to be higher. Jeff was standing when they came in so I'm assuming he was sititng down when he told them to leave.

I have to say I was pretty pissed off by last nights episode. Yeah, the Russell emergency was scary, but they still should have gone on with the double
elimination anyway. When the older guy was pulled out early in the season, didn't Foa STILL have to go to TC and vote someone out anyway? Or am I
thinking of another season? Anyway, the only good thing about this was it saved Liz for another week.
But as much as I like Liz, I hated her and Natalies attitude and how they just accepted either one of them was going home. Hello!?? You have 2 votes, which in a tribe of 5 wields some power. How about taking out one of the men? Or at the very least, voting for Russell, thereby forcing him to use the HII? No wonder that tribe is losing. Come on Liz, smarten up. Finally we get to see the dynamics at Galu. Well, I got to see it since I missed the ep that Jasmine was voted out. What the hell is peoples problem with Shambo? I had to laugh at the one girl who called her Gilligan. Um, hello again? What have you done lately? At least Sham is trying. Big Toe, I too loved the convo Shambo had with the 2 guys whose names escape me. What's with all this cloak and dagger stuff and "Shambo is on a need to know basis"? Just tell her who you are voting for and be done with it. Sheesh.

I don't think anyone in her tribe really LIKES Shambo... and some (most?) actively DIS-like her for losing part of the fishing gear and one of the chickens
The only reason she will be kept around is that she can't beat anyone IF she makes the final TC |

I can understand why people would be upset about the fishing gear and the chicken, but how come no one got upset with Russell when he chose blankets over a
tarp? Blankets don't do you any good if they are wet. I think Shambo is just suffering from the "older woman" dislike that most of these
players seem to have each season. Mama Kim, Lil, Kathy, Scout etc. For some reason, if the older woman is still around after a few episodes, she seems to get
a lot of resentment from the younger players who feel she is taking up space someone more deserving (i.e. someone they voted out earlier) should have.

I think the "Shambo is hated" theme has a lot to do with editing. The Galu men seem to fear the women's alliance in a post merge game. With
leader Russ leaving, they are 4-4 (M-F) and seem to want to gather in Shambo as a preemptive strike in case Monica, Laura, and Kelly decide they don't need
the guys around (especially if in a merge we have evil Russ, Jaison, and Mick come over).
AFA medical, you are correct. Mike left #2 for medical reasons and Foa still went to TC that week and voted out Betsey the older woman cop. I think the problem with the double elim was that JP stopped the R/C so nobody qualified for pizza. Since both were going to TC anyway, I would have given them both pizza and had the vote anyway. The other problem was air time to tell the medical story and have a double vote. As I said up-thread a way, I think that once Russ went down during the IC/RC they had to scramble to make it the "Russ is a hero" episode and give him lots of face time to honor his time there. I'll bet that some of the pieces, especially the fishing shots with the sunset in the background, were shot after they stabilized him. It was just too touching to have happened before he was knocked out. I mean, he was throwing a fish line and hook into 3 inches of surf. |

Basileos wrote: Some of the guys DRed that they were upset about Russell's choice, but the women were beyond thrilled. It was funny to see them hunkered down in the rain regretting the decision. I was sorry to see Russell go out like that but I was really starting to dislike the guy, even tho he explained that he was overcompensating in order to "build up credit" in his tribe. That's all fine and good but he had become an obnoxious dick in my eyes. As for Shambo, I'm glad she's lined herself up to go far in the game. Not that I'm rooting for -- I'm not rooting for anyone at this point, which is a sign that this season is short on lovable people -- but she's entertaining. |

According to a story on RealityBlurred.com, both tribes actually did get pizza:

I think the rule about voting a survivor out after another survivor leaves due to a non-vote reason (medical, quit, etc.) is that there is no hard fast rules.
We've seen survivors leave and the vote be cancelled, especially in earlier seasons. More recently when someone left the game a TC vote was still taken. As
was already mentioned above, we've seen both situations already this season.
Bas, to follow up with Toe's comment, people, primarily the men of his tribe, criticized him for choosing the comfort items. While most of that criticizm was shown in that particular episode, we still heard remnant of that decision right up till last week's show, especially after the rains came. Conversely, while the chicken incident came back to bite Shamboo, you heard nothing about the snorkel equipment from the other tribemates once the immediate incident passed. "A male is a male.
