Have to get it off my chest....
Driving home tonight I was on a dark road behind a truck...maybe 10-15 ft behind it. The truck started to slow down, and I did as well so I wouldn't end up its bed along with the passengers sitting back there. Didn't think much about it, but a few moments later I saw a kitten emerging from the bottom of the truck, face looking towards me, and was either crying or hissing. My guess crying. So I stepped on the brakes but the kitten disappeared beneath my car.
I was hoping it was scared enough to sit still, so I moved forward slowly. After another 20-30ft I decided to make a u-turn to see if the kitten made it out ok. As I pulled around my headlights fell upon a disturbing sight...the kitten was still on the road laying down with all 4 legs running in place. I quickly finished the 360 and started to head home again because I didn't want to see what I did to it, but have a feeling I may have crushed its head.
Don't feel good about this at all.
Also don't think it belonged
to anyone...lots of feral cats around here.
