What have you seen or are you planning to see? |

Last weekend was a big movie weekend for me. I saw Miracle, Big Fish, and Lost in Translation, all while I liked for one reason or another. I am also looking forward to seeing Secret Window with Johnny Depp.

We're looking forward to The Passion of the Christ, Troy (jake has watched that trailer I don't know how many times!), and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
I'd also like to see Hidalgo, Secret Window, and Taking Lives. One movie that's out now that we plan to see but haven't yet is Girl With the Pearl Earring. I've heard good things about it. |

Me and my wife plan to see the Passion. I would be interested in how acurate the film is to the scriptures.

TL, jake, Bovineman - this is great,
I checked in to see if anyone has anything on the Passion of the Christ movie. If you see it, can you let us/me know if it's good. My husband is anxious to see this movie. I will and would go for him but my initial concern is I think it will be provoking but it could be disturbing so I was not sure. I of course am not the best to say, but I think the Anti Semitism concern may be precautonary. I saw that one years ago, "The Temptation of Christ" and although I am not an authority on the Bible, I did find the movie fascinating. Unfortunately it did not do well. |

Tigerlily - we have similar tastes I think. Secret Window, Hidalgo, and Girl with a Pearl Earring all make my list. But what is Taking Lives and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? I'm not familiar with those. Passion of the Christ may be too graphic for me. I would be interested in hearing some reviews from others after they have seen it. Other movies I am looking forward too, even though they won't be out for a while....Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (i loved these books), Stepford Wives, and SpiderMan 2. |

The two I am excited to see are The Passion..., and Troy. I am so behind in movies! Need to catch them now before the baby comes! Also on my list are, Big Fish, Girl with the Pearl Earing, Lost in Translation (not a Bill Murray fan, but even from the previews I think I can tolerate him), The new Johnny Depp movie and maybe Miracle, but I am on the fence about that one.

To see a trailer for Taking Lives: http://www.themoviebox.net/movies/2004/STUVWXYZ/Taking-Lives/trailer-page.html To see a trailer for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: http://www.themoviebox.net/movies/2004/DEFGH/Eternal-Sunshine-Of-The-Spotless-Mind/trailer-page.html I'm looking forward to the Bridget Jones movie and The Stepford Wives as well. I'll probably skip Spiderman 2 unless jake makes me go see it. |

Just in case you don't know, Lost in Translation is out on DVD/video now though it's also still playing in theaters for some odd reason. Obviously it's a smarter move to rent it than spend $20 or so (admission price for two plus drinks/concessions) to see it in the theater, especially if you're unsure about it. |

I think they probably do that b/c the movie is up for an Oscar. They want to give people the opportunity to see it on the big screen. Although, after seeing Lost in Translation (as a rental) I can say that I don't think it is one of those you have to see on the big screen to enjoy.

I watched the trailers for Eternal Sunshine and Taking Lives. I have zero interest in seeing Taking Lives - it will freak me out to much. But the cast does look good, and if you liked to be freaked, it will probably be decent. Eternal Sunshine looks okay..I think I'll wait to hear some of the reviews before I go see it. It might be a rental.

Well that is good to hear! I noticed they re-released a few for the Oscars. I say Mystic River the other day, and I dunno. I guess I was expectign more. odd ending. The book (so I have been told, and as per usual was much better). From what I hear they skipped on a lot of character development for most of the characters. then again how do you make a book into a a two hour "good" movie?

Thought I would start up this thread again! I'm planning on seeing Raising Helen on Mother's Day. I've seen commercials about a special sneak preview this sunday, so I'll be there..
I'm also planning on seeing Man on Fire at some point and Mean Girls. Has anybody seen these movies? |

I saw Man on Fire... it was pretty good, although the camera work was very distracting, and the music video use of subtitles was annoying. But it's worth $7. Well, maybe $5.50.

Exactly, exactly what I think...weird. The book no contest is 100% better and Johnny Depp in Pirates should have taken best actor over Sean Penn for this movie. |

I saw MEAN GIRLS, definately not worth admission. There were a couple of good one-liners, but it was a movie that didn't know what it wanted to be. IT was like movie stew, one thing, maybe another - there was no flow, it felt very disjointed and you left the movie with a weird aftertaste. It just wasn't there, wasn't consistent, wasn't - anything.

Yep, I saw it like 2 weeks ago. I thought it was good but felt that the relationship between Diane Keaton's character and Jack Nicholson's character was a bit rushed. But overall, it was a good movie. MM
